Medicare plans explained:

Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance)

Includes:

  • Helps cover inpatient care in hospitals
  • Skilled nursing facility, hospice, and home health care when conditions are met
  • Premium-free Part A if you are 65 or older and you or your spouse paid Medicare taxes for at least 10 years

Why it helps:

  • Most people do not pay a premium for Part A, but there are costs associated with coverage
  • Part A has a per-benefit-period deductible that changes each year
  • Part A pays 80% of your Medicare-approved charges

Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance)

Includes:

  • Helps cover medically necessary doctors' services and outpatient care
  • Helps cover some preventive services to maintain health and prevent illness from getting worse
  • All Medicare beneficiaries must pay a Medicare Part B premium indexed to annual income

Why it helps:

  • Part B premiums are deducted monthly from Social Security, Railroad Retirement, or Civil Service Retirement checks
  • Part B has an annual deductible and pays 80% of Medicare-approved charges after the deductible

Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage)

Includes:

  • Combines Part A, Part B, and sometimes Part D under one plan
  • Plans are managed by Medicare-approved private insurance companies
  • All plans must offer all benefits of Original Medicare and can include Part D prescription drug coverage

Why it helps:

  • Provides a choice in how you receive Medicare coverage
  • Most plans include medical and prescription coverage combined
  • Most plans have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare and include provider networks such as HMOs and PPOs
  • All plans have a maximum out-of-pocket expense limit set by the government each year

Medicare Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage)

Includes:

  • Helps cover prescription drugs and may help lower costs
  • Available to anyone with Medicare Part A and/or Part B
  • Medicare Advantage plans may also include drug coverage

Why it helps:

  • Join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan offered in your area
  • Compare formularies and pharmacy networks for your medications
  • Help protecting against higher prescription costs over time

Medicare Supplements (Medigap)

Includes:

  • Private policies that fill gaps between Original Medicare coverage and out-of-pocket costs
  • Help pay Part A and Part B deductibles, co-pays, and coinsurance
  • May cover extras like extended hospital stays and foreign travel emergencies

Why it helps:

  • You must be enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B to purchase a supplement policy
  • Standardized Medigap plans make it easier to compare options
  • Licensed agents help you find the best available plans in your area based on your needs

Customer service

Includes:

  • Support for Medicare Advantage, Supplement, and Part D questions

Why it helps:

  • Customer support team ready to assist with all levels of support needs
  • Muneris has assisted individuals and families with coverage needs since 1990
  • If you are inquiring about Medicare Advantage or Part D, contact Muneris personally per CMS rules
